There is much to see in the capital of the United Kingdom. Start with the British Museum where exhibits of man from prehistoric to modern times are drawn from all over the world. This particualr museum also holds the rosetta Stone, sculptures from the Pantheon and the Portland Vase. Also visit the impressive Tate Modern, which is Britain's national museum of modern art. Housed in the former Bankside Power Station on the banks of the River Thames, the gallery displays major works by Matisse and Picasso as well as contemporary work, exhibitions and installations. The London Eye is a major feature of London's skyline. It is the world's highest observation wheel and offers passengers spectacular views of over 55 of London's most famous landmarks - all in just 30 minutes. The Tower of London, take a guided tour with one of the Yeoman Warders around one of the most famous fortified buildings in the world. Discover its 900 year history as a royal palace and fortress, prison and place of execution, mint, arsenal, menagerie and jewel house. Of course there is also a little tower called Big Ben. Just under and hour in a half is Cambridge, here is a city that holds nine colleges and universities. Though there is plenty to do aswell, with many of the uiversities also holding museums, there is enough information to be explored and gained to last weeks. Just over an hour and a half south is Portsmouth, which holds the Spinaker tower located in the water near an active naval shipyard that also offers an interactive look at the navay today. There is also the Southsea castle, which was part a series of fortifications constructed by Henry VIII around England's coasts to protect the country from invaders. Another cool site is the Spitbank fort located in Solent. Take the trip out to see and enjoy a night on this festive island.

Head west to Reading, a city that was discovered in 1121, and has been through a lot of history. Much the the rest of the UK, this city has stories to be told. The Maiwand lion in Forbury Gardens is a monument to commemorate the battle of Maiwand in 1880. An excellent day trip where you can see the Reading abbey ruins aswell. Head east to the birthplace of the radio, Chelmsford located just over and hour east. Chelmsford is well known for there sports, and offer quite a variety of options as far as that goes. Head to the river edge with the english channel in Chatham and see the old naval dockyard that is now a museum. Fort Amherst is also located in this area aswell.
